JazzPoetry2016c

The purpose of “The Jazz & Poetry Series” is to provide elementary 3rd through 6th grade students with an exciting in-school, high-quality program that is structured, educational, inspirational, fun with lots of audience participation.

The objective of Jazz & Poetry, delivered by a 4 piece band and a poet, is teaching vital skills, while uplifting students with an “I CAN” message – “I Can be president, an engineer, a teacher, a doctor, etc.” all the while discovering that “learning can be fun.”

The community need for Jazz & Poetry is providing the under-served elementary school students, a no cost (to the students), high quality, in-school American history lesson. Also, for most children in this age group, J&P will be their first experience with a live performance band, and for many. This is a great opportunity for children to learn of the contributions of great Americans like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and more.
